Training in Mind
‘Training in Mind’ - Sandwell Mind’s training department – is responsible for ensuring that our workforce is fully equipped with the skills and knowledge base required to deliver quality services to users.
We are a member of the Open College Network and some of the courses we offer are accredited by that organisation.
We deliver a comprehensive in house training programme for all staff employed by the organisation. This includes a 12 week induction, enrolment on NVQ award (or similar), and a rolling programme of in house sessions on a variety of subject areas. Training sessions are also attended by volunteers and service users where appropriate.
Training in Mind has been working to raise understanding and awareness of basic techniques that people can use to improve their own mental health and wellbeing. We run courses on Self Help, Anxiety Management, Coping with Depression, the Road to Employment, and so on. These courses are targeted at anyone who has any interest in managing their own mental health and are delivered free to the user. We have been working closely with our Community Wellbeing team to this end.
Training in Mind delivers training sessions to a range of other organisations and providers, both inside and outside the borough. Subject areas cover a variety of mental health issues, but also things like health and safety, abuse awareness, equal opportunities, fire safety and so on.
We can tailor what we offer according to the needs of your organisation, and sessions can be delivered either in our own facilities or off site. For a list of some of the sessions we run, click here.
