SORT Service

Sandwell Mind Outreach, Recovery Team is a floating support service that supports people who live in Sandwell. We visit over 177 people each week. SORT is funded by the governments `Supporting People` programme and we are funded to provide support up to a maximum of two years if necessary.
SORT can support someone to keep on top of their bills, their finances and routine household tasks. Our support can also include helping people to access social, leisure and vocational opportunities or employment.
SORT cannot offer any kind of personal care, such as assistance with washing, dressing or administering medication, however we are able to refer to other agencies who may help in this area.
The majority of our work is carried out Monday - Friday 9am – 5pm, but we can work outside of these hours if necessary. Our STR workers (Support, Time, Recovery) visit people in their own homes, supporting them in practical ways so they can successfully manage their own mental health problems and maintain their place in the community.
We work closely with statutory mental health services - people like CPN's, social workers etc - so our support may be part of a larger package and the STR worker may not be the only person working with the service user.
Referrals are welcome from any source, including self referrals. Please contact the SORT Manager - Gary Middleton on 0121 543 3931 or e-mail if you require further information.
