Community Wellbeing

The Community Wellbeing Service offers a range of wellbeing activities including: therapeutic group work, complementary therapies, workshops & short courses and social & leisure activities for the people of Sandwell - all running in a variety of community venues and publicised in a monthly What’s On Guide.

The wellbeing activities on offer are useful in helping to maintain good mental health and to promote an improved sense of personal wellbeing.
You don't need a diagnosis, or to think of yourself as having a mental health problem to access the service. Good mental health is something that touches on all our lives, in the same way physical health does. You don’t need to wait until you’re experiencing difficulties to start thinking about how to look after yourself. The dictionary defines wellbeing as "a state of being well, healthy and contented". We are all likely to have slightly different understandings of exactly what this means for us as individuals, and how best to achieve it, but if you generally feel relaxed and positive about your life you will know you are on the right track.
Different things work for different people. You might benefit from attending a workshop to learn about relaxation techniques. You might want to take part in an exercise class, use a light box or have a massage. You can learn about healthy eating options, training and employment opportunities, or how to cope when feeling anxious and down. And sometimes feeling good about yourself can be as simple as taking part in social or leisure activities, meeting new people, and experiencing new things.
If you’re interested in getting involved, contact the team for a chat. There are no complicated referral forms to fill in - the team will normally just take a few contact details and have a chat with you about what we offer and how we may be able to help you. You can find out what's going on and get some ideas about what might suit you in the latest issue of What's On or just ring the Wellbeing Team for further information. The wellbeing activities are free of charge, except for complementary therapies, which have a small charge.
We also undertake outreach work with other organisations who are working with their own established client groups in various sectors of the community. So if you are interested in us coming to you to work with your client group, in a setting that your clients are already familiar and comfortable with, please do get in touch.

We have a range of factsheets giving basic information about various wellbeing activities. Links to these are given below.
