About Us

Sandwell lies in the heart of the West Midlands, in an area of the UK known as "The Black Country". There are six main towns which make up Sandwell; Oldbury, Rowley Regis, Smethwick, Tipton, Wednesbury and West Bromwich. It is a culturally diverse, urban borough.

Sandwell Mind is an independent registered charity, affiliated to national Mind, working across Sandwell to promote and support better mental health. You can learn more about how charities are set up and regulated by going to the Charity Commission website. We are committed to making sure that the services and facilities we provide are of the highest possible quality and that they continue to develop to meet the needs of the communities of Sandwell.

The organisation has a board of voluntary Trustees who are responsible for the overall management and direction of the charity and its services. Day to day responsibility for managing the charitys activity is delegated to a team of paid staff who are accountable to the Trustees. Sandwell Mind employees over 80 staff, as well as a number of volunteers who provide valuable support. You can see our staffing structure by downloading our organisational chart.

Each year we publish an annual report to inform stakeholders of what has been happening within the organisation and what our plans for the future are. You can download a copy of the latest annual report by following the link.

Service users are a vital part of the organisation. Sandwell Mind exists to help people achieve better mental health and we want to deliver services in a way that users value and appreciate. We want the organisation as a whole to be run in a way that meets the needs of people who have mental health problems because if we do not do this we are failing as an organisation. We surveyed our users about this in Spring of 2007, and you can read the results of the survey by following the link. Our policy framework is kept under ongoing review and we welcome any commments from users that may help to inform the review process. Users can give us feedback on this or any other matter regarding the way the organisation is run via e-mail, post, phone or through their support worker.

If you require further details about the way Sandwell Mind operates, or are interested in contributing to the work of the organisation in any way, please do not hestitate to contact us.
